The mask reveals the inner man. It is testament to the
essential nature of the mask that it
can serve to define the inner realities
of the 20th Century human as effectively as it did
the inner reality of
humans in Neolithic Ireland thousand of years ago.
Dara Vallely uses the image of the mask in his paintings
to evoke the traditions of
past generations and their influence on us and also to illustrate the altered
spiritual
state of the musician and performer.
